Lenovo is calling the Z560 a “multimedia laptop.” As I pointed out in a recent PC perspective article, multimedia laptop is a rather vague term. Virtually all modern laptops with an available HDMI-out connection are capable multimedia laptops.
The Z560 is instead a simple mainstream laptop. There are some who contend that “mainstream” is also a vague term, but I disagree – mainstream laptops are defined as inexpensive laptops between 14 and 16 inches in size. Although these laptops are often insulted by tech journalists because of their size and weight they remain among the most popular laptops on the market.
This makes the Z560 an important entry into the market for Lenovo. The company’s recent low-end mainstream laptops have consisted of products like the G series. They’re okay, but they’re not going to cause most consumers to pick a Lenovo instead of a Acer, Dell or HP. Can this new laptop break new ground? Check out the video review to find out.
