Lenovo L Series Laptops Now Available

by Matthew Smith on May 17, 2010

About a month ago Lenovo announced that it was launching the new L series of laptops and implied that the R series laptops would be going away. Over time the R series was indeed allowed to sell out, and now Lenovo has replaced the R series on their website with the L series products.

Visually the L series products are very similar to the R series. These are not thin-and-light laptops but rather mainstream business workaholics without a shred of glamor in mind. Lenovo is, for whatever reason, working the “green” angle with these products, calling the L series the company’s “greenest enterprise laptop.” Why Lenovo thinks that corporations or consumers give a damn about how green their laptop is baffles me, but there you have it.

The current base price of the 14-inch Lenovo L412 is $599.99. For that you’ll receive a Core i3-330M processor, 2GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. Only Intel integrated graphics are included. This is no speed demon, in other words, but it a fairly competitive price. Spending $600 on a consumer laptop will snag you a little bit more, but business options always cost more because in return you receive a more rugged product.

The 15-inch Lenovo L512 is also available and also has the same starting price.
