VIA Introduces Tiny ARTiGo A1100 PC

by Matthew Smith on April 20, 2010

VIA, well known for its small computers, has introduced a new small form-factor PC. Called the ARTiGo A1100, it packs a 1.2Ghz VIA Nano Processor and a VIA VX855 integrated graphics processor. It includes audio in/out, USB ports, Ethernet, HDMI, VGA and optional wireless Internet.

What it doesn’t include is a hard drive or system memory. The wireless and SD card readers are also add-ons which you must install yourself. The reason for this is that the ARTiGo is a do-it-yourself system. The base price of the VIA ARTiGo is $243, but with a small hard drive and 1GB of RAM included you’re probably looking at a total price of $350.

As far as performance goes, the ARTiGo’s specs are pretty similar to previous VIA Nano based netbooks. Those have generally proven to be faster than Atom based systems and capable of displaying 1080P video. Yes, you heard that right – this may well be the world’s smallest HTPC.
