The Antec Sonata has always been one of my favorite computer cases. It isn’t small – although it is fairly compact for a case capable of taking a full ATX board – but it is extremely quiet. It is in fact one of the best cases out there for an HTPC so long as you can find the space for it.
And now Antec has gone and built a new one. Called the Proto, it actually looks a little different than what you see above. The new Proto apparently has a matte black finish instead of gloss. Also new for the Proto is a mounting location of a 2.5″ SSD. As someone who had to resort to duct-taping their SSD into their case, I can vouch for the usefulness of that.
The rest of the case appears to have the typical evolutionary improvements. Sound deadening is said to be improved, airflow is said to be improved, etc. We won’t know that for sure until reviews start popping up, but Antec is a great company and I’m sure this will be a great PC case.
