News: Acer Aspire TimelineX Hands-On

by Matthew Smith on April 4, 2010

The Acer Aspire Timelin X is one of the new laptops that should soon be on store shelves featuring the Intel Core i5 ultra-low voltage mobile processors. As I’ve said in early news posts, I’m really excited to see what these things are capable of. They should be able to give the best of both worlds – excellent battery life when unplugged and excellent performance when plugged in.

French website Blogeee.net was able to have some intimate hands-on time with  the TimelineX. The website is in French, so go use if you don’t know French want to read it. It looks like Acer has made some improvements over the Timeline series, which frankly looked and felt a bit cheap. The lid is now a textured surface which looks classy and the inside features a darker brushed aluminum finish. The keyboard looks like more of the same, which could be a problem, as the Timeline keyboards have always felt mushy. The screen is also glossy. Boo.

Still no word when this will hit store shelves, but I’m guessing May.
