About Smidgen PC

The days of buying gigantic PCs just to keep up with basic computing are over. A word processor, even with a slew of features, is only so difficult to run. The coolest modern PCs are not longer huge, water-cooled behemoths which draw enough power in an hour to sustain a small third-world village for weeks. The coolest PCs are now tiny machines that sip humbly at their batteries and can fit into a pair of cargo pants. New categories of devices, such as tablets, are expanding the traditional definition of the PC.

This is a revolution, and it is just beginning. In truth, PCs have been over-powered for basic tasks for over a decade. It is only now, however, the general public is starting to realize it. Thin is in. Computers are becoming sexy. They’re becoming things which can be taken everywhere, as common and useful as a wrist watch or a cell phone and just as important to modern life.

Smidgen PC exists to provide information about these new computers. Netbooks, nettops, ultra-portables, mini-PC, tablets – if it is small and it has an operating system, Smidgen PC is on it. That said, this is not a news blog. There are plenty of blogs available providing instant gratification for people who want to know about the latest products. The goal of Smidgen PC is to provide something rarer and more valuable – useful articles, reviews, and how-tos devoid of bias. Smidgen PC is here to help you learn about what these newer, smaller PCs are all about.
